Chasing the target of 159 runs, the Indian team got off to a very poor start. On the second ball of the first over of the innings, captain Rohit Sharma was run out without opening the account. Rohit Sharma was run out due to not being able to maintain proper rapport with opening partner Gill. Then Shubman Gill shared 28 runs with Tilak Verma for the second wicket. But Gill too could not spend much time at the crease and fell prey to Mujeeb ur Rahman in the fourth over.
Then Tilak Verma and Shivam Dubey put on a 44-run (29-ball) partnership for the third wicket, which broke with Tilak’s wicket in the 9th over.
